The Youngsville Sports Complex is excited to announce the 2022 Mardi Gras Mambo, NCAA Collegiate Fast Pitch Softball Tournament will be held February 25-27, 2022. The Mardi Gras Mambo, which is hosted by Southeastern Louisiana University, will feature 10 teams with over 250 players. Five of the teams competing in the tournament are from Louisiana, with the remaining five teams traveling from universities around the country. Several teams are scheduled to ride in the Youngsville Mardi Gras Parade, which will be held Saturday, February 26, 2022.
One of the tournament highlights will feature Lafayette’s own UL Ragin Cajuns Softball as they take on Alabama Crimson Tide Softball, who recently competed in the 2021 Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City.

Tim Robichaux, Youngsville Director of Parks and Recreation stated, “These collegiate softball teams are traveling to Youngsville to play against some of the best Division 1 competition in the country. We are grateful for the commitment from Coach Fremin and Southeastern University, who again chose the Youngsville Sports Complex as the host site for this event. We’re excited to welcome the players, coaches, and their families to Youngsville, especially during Mardi Gras.”

On June 29, 2021, the Mayor and Youngsville City Council approved the 2021-22 fiscal budget, which included adding a splash pad to the Youngsville Sports Complex. Construction is expected to be complete by Spring of 2022.
Sugar Beach, the newly constructed Beach Volleyball Complex, currently features five NCAA regulation sand volleyball courts, one of which is a championship court. In the 2021-22 budget, four additional sand volleyball courts have been approved and construction will begin soon. The courts and facility have been constructed with professional grade LED lighting, outdoor seating areas, restrooms, full concessions and a cabana bar.
Mayor Ritter stated, “This step solidifies our position as the premier sports complex in the region. It continues our tradition of offering excellent recreational opportunities while driving economic development.”
